Matt Skiba solo album pushed indefinitely

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 11/12/09 @ 6:46 PM - altpress.com

Last week, we brought you news of the release date for Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba's debut solo album, Demos. Well, bad news, folks: According to Asian Man Records head honcho Mike Park, the disc has been delayed indefinitely--but, if you're a Trio fan, it's for a good reason. Park explains:

The MATT SKIBA Demos release slated for FEB 16th is going to be pushed back until after the new Alkaline Trio album is released. Yeah, bummer bummer bummer, but when you're in a big band like the trio, sometimes you have to play by the rules of the big wigs in charge of whatever big wigs do. Matt told me he'd let me know as soon as possible in terms of a release date. But shoootzzz......the album is finished, mastered, and ready to be delivered as soon as we are given an exact date. Sorry if this causes any heartache to anyone, but will keep you updated as soon as we know what's going on."

One can assume from this tidbit of info that the new Alkaline Trio album will be coming out this February, although a solid release date and label are still unconfirmed.

Bad Lieutenant cancel U.S. shows

Alternative Press - Tim Karan on 11/12/09 @ 3:32 PM - altpress.com

British rock outfit Bad Lieutenant have had to cancel four U.S. tour dates that were planned for next week due to "stringent immigration laws and changing visa parameters." The band, featuring Joy Division/New Order founder Bernard Sumner, were set to support their debut full-length, which arrived in stores Nov. 10, but were unable to complete the necessary paperwork to bring them to the U.S. Earlier this month, fellow British band, Echo & The Bunnymen, were forced to cancel their U.S. dates due to problems with the IRS.

Bad Lieutenant's Sumner had this to say: ""We were all so very excited about coming to the States to play our new music for our American fans, and are extremely disappointed that on this occasion, we won't have the opportunity to do so. We plan to reschedule the Chicago and New York shows along with some additional U.S. dates in Spring 2010."

The canceled shows include:
November 18 - Park West (headline), Chicago, IL
November 19 - supporting the Pixies in Chicago, IL
November 21 - Webster Hall (headline), New York, NY
November 23 - supporting the Pixies in New York, NY

As I Lay Dying post update from the studio

Alternative Press - Leah Preble on 11/12/09 @ 3:05 PM - altpress.com

As I Lay Dying headed in to the studio last month to begin tracking their new album with the help of Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage and producer Daniel Castleman. Lead singer Tim Lambesis recently posted an update about where they are in the recording process:

"There are only drums for eight songs tracked so far. One of them we're undecided about, but maybe it'll feel different when the vocals are done. Either way, we need write more than eight songs (since they aren't as long as the eight songs on 'Master of Puppets'). Therefore we're working on writing MORE new songs as soon as we finish recording what's been started. The only break in working on the new album will be our short trip to Mexico and Sri Lanka to play two of the best shows of our career. All of us can't stress enough how grateful we are to be writing music that we love while still receiving a paycheck. This can only be credited to OUR LOYAL FANS! Sometimes bands need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills. In our case, we plan to make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we're done. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We care and we're working."
