Pennywise issue statement regarding singer's departure

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 8/21/09 @ 3:41 PM - altpress.com

The three remaining members of skate-punk lifers Pennywise--guitarist Fletcher Dragge, bassist Randy Bradbury and drummer Byron McMackin--have issued a statement regarding the departure of singer Jim Lindberg earlier today. It reads as follows:

"After 19 years with Pennywise, Jim Lindberg has decided to step down as lead singer. Pennywise has long stood behind the motto that you should always follow your heart and pursue what makes you happy, and we wish Jim the best of luck in his new ventures, whatever they may be. Pennywise has become a way of life for a lot of people, and has definitely become a way of life for us. As the three remaining members of Pennywise we feel that we are not done delivering our message to our fans.

The band has always been about moving forward in life no matter what obstacles stand in front of you. We will begin our search for a new singer immediately. We will continue to tour the world and we are looking forward to writing new music. We've had a lot of good times and survived the hard times thanks to the undying support of our fans. We're looking forward to what the future may bring."

The band have no live gigs currently scheduled, and there is no word on who will fill Lindberg's shoes yet. As soon as we hear, we'll let you know.

Pennywise lead singer and songwriter Jim Lindberg has announced that he's leaving the group. Pennywise are not breaking up and the remaining members are looking for a new vocalist. Lindberg released this statement:

" After 20 years, nine albums and thousands of shows around the world, my time in Pennywise has come to an end. Being the singer for this band has been an amazing experience, and along the way we made some of the best fans anyone could ask for. There are few things that made me more proud than seeing people at our shows singing our songs, and it's your support and encouragement that's kept me going this long. I would sincerely like to thank everyone who helped us along the way and wish everyone in the Pennywise family the best of luck and continued success. Yours truly, Jim."

Lindberg is currently at work on a documentary based on his book, Punk Rock Dad: No Rules, Just Real Life, and is planning to return to the studio to record a currently untitled release.

Cute Is What We Aim For break up, singer goes solo

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 8/20/09 @ 11:01 AM - altpress.com

While no official statement has been issued, it appears that Buffalo pop band Cute Is What We Aim For have finally come to an end after a particularly tumultuous four-year career. While he gave no explanation for his decision, vocalist Shaant Hacikyan posted the following to his Twitter account earlier this week: "I'm going solo.Thank you for every inkling of support."

Bassist Dave Melillo shed some light on the situation in a recent interview, saying, "At the beginning of August I let Shaant know I was leaving the band... At the beginning of July Mikey, Jeff, some family friends, and I sat down with Shaant. We told him the things he needed to change as far as attitude and demeanor goes. I want to make it known that I shut him out of my life after that. He needed to be on his own if he was going to do anything positive for himself. There was not a visible change in his attitude or work ethic when I got back to Buffalo, so I decided to live my own life."

While no official remarks have been given by guitarist Jeff Czum, Melillo also confirms that Czum quit the band at the same time as he did.

This is not CIWWAF's first lineup change in their somewhat brief life as a band; bassist Fred Cimato left the group in October 2006, only to be replaced by Jack Marin, who also quit mid-tour in April 2007 only to be replaced by Cimato. Cimato again quit the band in early 2008, with Melillo stepping in for him. In September 2008, drummer Tom Falcone quit the band in the middle of a Canadian tour. He was never permanently replaced.

If the band ever make an official statement regarding their status, we will bring it to you. Their last album was 2008's Rotation.

Cash Colligan leaves The Cab

Alternative Press - Laila Hanson on 8/20/09 @ 8:27 AM - altpress.com

Bassist Cash Colligan of Las Vegas group The Cab has parted ways with the band to pursue his own projects. Read the band's full blog on the matter below. You can also read an explanation from Cash himself on his personal blog right here.

You will be missed

First off I can't thank our fans enough for making the What Happens In Vegas tour a success beyond our wildest dreams. I don't think anybody quite realizes how much this means to us but it absolutely means the world. It was our first nationwide headlining tour and you guys were loving, welcoming, and absolutely incredible! I'm sad to say the day has come where Cash has decided to leave the band and to move on from touring to pursue his other interests and dreams and to do do what's right for him in Las Vegas. If you follow Cash on twitter I'm sure you've seen everything he has on his plate and that he's been working on at home. We wish him the best and I'm sure he'll be no stranger at a Cab show or anytime we're back in town. Thank you again to everyone for your unending support, you've made the tour and this summer one we'll never forget. We hope to see everybody again soon. We are happier than ever and have so many songs we are dying to show you guys! Get ready... the best is yet to come!
